Recently I had a E90 320i come into my shop with the mil light on and running on half power. A scan of the vehicle indicated valvetronic servor motor internal failure. On testing the valvetronic servor motor I found it to be working. The problem was it was not advancing the valve timing thus the half power of the engine. If you ever have this problem here is a fix that works.
Oct 30, 2012 It is possible that you have a timing chain problem, and it has jumped a tooth. This would also explain the difference in sound. I would avoid driving the car if possible, maybe a trip to a garage, and it would probably need the timing reset, and maybe new timing chain guides and tensioners, but get them to check it first! E90 320i VVT fault? Hi there i recently had the Engine management light come on my dash so i plugged my OBD reader in and got the following codes: 2A70 - Fault Current Plausibilization. 2B63 - Camshaft sensor, Exhaust I'm pretty clueless atm so any help would be greatly appreciated. I've ordered a new Camshaft sensor 8 to see.
Remove the servor motor. With a screwdriver push the eccentric shaft gear as far back anti clockwise as it can go. Insert the servor motor and connect its 2 pin plug. Them switch the ignition onto position 2 and withing a space of 15 seconds depress the accelarator pedel down to full throttle 10 times and you will hear the servor motor program itself back to factory spec. Re-fit the valve cover and problem solved. I hope you will find this post useful. Any questions just ask me.

The 2.5 and up made it here and they were built in South Carolina exceptfor the M3.Hi there yes this trick will work on any BMW which has valvetronic servor motors to advance the valve timing. This trick was shown to me by the BMW main dealer here in south africa.
The main dealer told me that it is a common fault on the the valvetronic engines. (, 06:05 PM)LeviDenim Wrote: Just got an email back from a friend in the Virgin Islands and he loves the fix. He has a car inwith the same symptoms.
He will be trying this today.Great I hope it all works out for him. Please let your friend know that when he has the valvetronic servor motor out he must move the eccentric shaft as far anti clockwise as it will go before he re-fits the servor motor onto the eccentric shaft teeth/gear.
Then also when he comes to the programming in the car via the accelarator peddle he MUST put the pob key into the dash the he MUST touch the start button lightly just so that the dash cluster lights come on. He must the immediately push the accelarator pedel full throttle ten times and listen for the servor motor setting itself while he does it.I hope it all works out for your friend. If he or you have any questions you can reach me directly and immediately via email on:By the way when he scanned the vehicle what DTC codes did he come up with?
Was is valvetronic internal failure and valvetronic solonoid failure? (, 12:25 AM)ghostrider Wrote: (, 06:05 PM)LeviDenim Wrote: Just got an email back from a friend in the Virgin Islands and he loves the fix.
